Multisensory Learning

Have you ever experienced difficulty with learning new words? I have because I'm a visual learner as well as a hands-on, kinesthetic learner. The Structured Literacy Approach (also called Multisensory Teaching or Orton Gillingham), helps me because the focus of learning incorporates visual, kinesthetic (hands-on), as well auditory learning. I wish I had this when I was a young! To learn and try a structured literacy approach for SAT prep vocabulary words, please click the button below.

About Me

Thank you for viewing the website today. It's a pleasure to have you here.

Here's a little history about me, a short story of my childhood, and projects that I am currently working on.

I would like to share some of my, "art" experiences with you. I've always been a creative person. I suppose today people would label me a, "creative." I like this term. When I was young, I was always fascinated by art and can vividly remember my first, "real look" at a painting that was on display in the elementary school library. I was mesmerized by a painting of a single flower. I noticed when I stood close to it, the flower turned into globs of paint, and when I stepped away from it, colors were transformed into a flower. I even recall saying out loud, "I want to paint like that!" I've had the, "art bug" ever since.

Later, in the same school year, I created a large paper mache spider that was chosen as a display prop at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.  My spider became, "Charlotte" in the Charlotte's Web display there. Many artsy projects have come and gone since then. In fact, I've had a lifetime of them.

After several years working and teaching as a potter, I became interested in writing and illustrating books.  My most recent project, Visual Verbiage 2 , delves into SAT words that one should know and understand. Maybe you're like me, learning visually and working with my hands helps me to cement the information in my brain. SInce my journey to improve my own vocabulay, I realize that SAT words are for everyone! Visual Verbiage 2 has a tentative release date for the fall of 2020. Please sign up through email to receive updates on my progress as well as possible early release dates. Preregister below to receive your book at the earliest date possible!

My book, Noonie Pie's Snap-It-Series- Mountain Adventure was birthed several years ago and remains an ongoing literacy program that I'm creating and shaping. Although it is a work in progress, (Noonie Pie's Snap-It-Series-Camping Adventure with a release date of Dec. 2020), it shows great promise as an integrated literacy program that is geared toward first grade students. It includes handwriting, phonics, creative drawing and writing. Check out the sample book below.

Another project I've been involved with has been learning Scripture visually through the Visual Bible Memory (VBM) book series. As you can tell, I enjoy creating a good, "series" of books that one can saturate themselves in.  Visual Bible Memory has been one of the best projects I've ever worked on. It has opened some other creative doors such as Scripture Painting classes and community painting events that I currently instruct a few times per year.

I'm thankful for such a great start with the Visual Verbiage book series and I'm hopeful that many more great starts will follow. God's love and blessings to you. Thanks for allowing me some time to talk a little about myself and thank you for sharing your ideas and, "works of art" on my Blog page.  You're a blessing!

Visual Verbiage helps those who are visual learners, those with Dyslexia, those who are hard of hearing or deaf, and those that struggle to understand and memorize new words. This book will help you to personally link to vocabulary words, thereby making it a useful tool for reading and comprehension. It is specifically designed as a new approach to aid in memorization for those who have difficulty learning. In addition, you'll begin to develop a heightened awareness of new vocabulary words in ordinary print. You're never too old or young to ride the Visual Verbiage(VV) waves and succeed!
